What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

What is a Geocaching Mega Event?

Mega-Events are the ultimate gatherings for geocachers. Officially, events must surpass the 500 attendee mark to qualify for "Mega" status. Many Mega-Events are held annually, offer plenty of planned activities and attract geocachers from all over the world.

Can I use the Logo, Stan?

The use of Stan (Logo/Mascot) is generally not allowed, as we have certain obligations to the wonderful sponsors of this event. If you have any questions at all, please use the Contact Us page and we can approve any use of the Logo.

Will camping be available on site?

Yes, both Powered and Un-powered camping will be available on site. Check out the online store to book now.

How many days is the camping fee for?

The camping fee will cover arriving on Thursday April 2nd and departing Monday April 6th.

What if I want more than one site?

Easy, just book and pay for the numbers of sites you need.

Is the water potable?

Yes, the water on site is safe to drink.

Will dogs be allowed at the venue?

Yes, dogs are OK as long as they are kept on a leash. Owners need to be responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Please keep animals out of buildings.

What sort of facilities will be available on site?

The Showgrounds have a total of 5 toilet blocks, of which 3 contain laundries and hot showers.

Haven't received the Payment Details email or not redirected to PayPal?

We have had a few reports of the email being found in the Spam / Junk folder. If you can not find it there, please Contact Us.

Can we arrive early or stay later at the Showgrounds?

The Showgrounds and Council have agreed to allow camping before and after the event from Monday March 30th through to Friday April 10th. For those days not included with camping purchased through this website, the price will be $20 powered per site per night and $10 unpowered per site per night. Payment will be made directly to the Showgrounds, and the caretaker will walk around daily to collect the camping fee. More information on how to pay will be made available upon arrival. There is no requirement to contact the Showgrounds about arriving early. Simple arrive from March 30th, as they are aware we are coming.

How many am I allowed on one site?

4 adults or 1 family (where a family is the parents and children).

What size are the campsites?

A standard site is 10m x 6m while a few are 8m x 8m. The Camping Map outlines each one.

I have a powered campsite, what power lead do I need?

If you have a 15A campsite (Camping Map) you can use either a 15A power lead or a 10A power lead. 10A sites can only use a 10A lead. 10A leads are those you typically use around the house whereas a 15A lead is usually used to plug into a caravan power inlet. All powered sites have been designed assuming campers have access to a minimum of 20m power lead.

If you have a site with a 10 amp supply a 15 amp cord will not fit the socket.

How do I pay?

The order process will redirect you to PayPal, where you can pay via Credit Card or PayPal account. If this has failed, an email is also sent to you with Bank Transfer details if you would prefer this option.

Will I receive a Camping Permit or Entry Ticket when I pay?

No. Once your order has been marked as Paid, we will send you the invoice. At the registration process at the event, we will ask for your geocaching.com username and will look up your order that way.

Will I be allowed a campfire on our camp site?

This will only be allowed to occur pending the fire danger rating during the Mega. The showgrounds will have 44 gallon drums located around the showgrounds, for people to have contained campfires. This will be the only way campfires will be allowed.

Is there a camp kitchen, or communal BBQ on site?

There is no Camp Kitchen or communal BBQ facilities on site. Please ensure you pre-purchase food, stock up from the supermarkets, or have your own cooking facilities.

Are there any Terms and Conditions?

Yes, they can be accessed here.

Terms and conditions cover refunds/cancellations, privacy policy, competitions and games, attendee and guest conduct and supervision of children and pets etc. You will need to agree to these when registering.
